As the warm weather finally settles in, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement. The long-awaited summer is here, and I’m ready to make the most of it. One of my favorite parts of my home is the massive backyard – it’s the perfect canvas to create a delightful outdoor living space for easy entertaining.

Embracing Colorful Outdoor Living

A couple of years ago, I did a big reveal of my backyard setup, but when my friend Katrina from Chic Little House asked me to be part of her Summer in Style Outdoor Edition blog hop, I knew it was time to switch things up a bit. I wanted to try a new look that would capture the vibrant energy of the season.

As I started brainstorming, I stumbled upon the most amazing placemat that became the jumping-off point for my new outdoor décor. The bold, vibrant colors instantly grabbed my attention, and I knew I had to build upon that inspiration. Luckily, my existing sectional already had orange cushions that would complement the look perfectly, and my DIY striped coffee table added a beautiful blue touch.

All I needed now were some carefully curated accessories to tie the whole space together. I loved the process of shopping my own mind and finding a mix of pillows that would work seamlessly with the color scheme. It’s amazing how a few little tweaks can transform the entire look and feel of an outdoor living area.

Refreshing Summertime Drinks

Now that the space was looking fresh and inviting, it was time to think about the perfect summertime beverages to serve my guests. I’m a big fan of the lemonade options available at Trader Joe’s, and I’ve discovered a fun way to elevate them.

Instead of just pouring the lemonade into a glass, I like to add a mix of freshly cut fruit pieces. It’s such a simple yet delightful touch that takes the experience to the next level. Moving over to the dining area of my deck, I set up a fully stocked drink station on the DIY outdoor bar we made a couple of years ago. It’s still going strong and serves as the perfect spot to showcase all the refreshing summer beverages. And let’s talk about that DIY fresh pineapple vase – isn’t it just the cutest?

When you find drinks that coordinate with your outdoor setup, you simply have to add them to the mix. The vibrant hues and playful designs of these bottles are the perfect complement to the colorful theme.

One of the finishing touches I’m most excited about is the hydrangeas. I’ll admit, I had fallen out of love with them for a while, but when I saw these amazing colors, I was instantly smitten again. The bold blue blooms and the lush, lime-hued green leaves are the perfect addition to my outdoor oasis.

These hydrangeas are still going strong, even days later, and I’m thoroughly enjoying their vibrant presence. They add such a beautiful, natural element to the space and tie everything together seamlessly.

As I step back and take in the new look of my outdoor living area, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride and excitement.
